Character name: Red
Age: 27
Canon: Transistor
Canonpoint: Right before she kills herself with the Transistor

Background: http://transistor.wikia.com/wiki/Red

Personality: From the start, Red shows tenacity. She’s not giving up, even if the Process is after her and she’s mute. Red rips up her dress, grabs that Transistor, and uses it as a weapon. When her lover, who is now stuck in the Transistor, tells her not to turn left so they can skip town, she ignores him so she can return to the Empty Set and find out exactly what happened and why.

Red’s not above a little revenge, though. She gets angry when something threatens those she loves. When the Spine’s presence affects Transistor, and thus her lover, she promises to him to break its heart. And she’s more than willing to take her revenge too, as she did exactly that. Her journey is also one of revenge, of getting back at the Camerata for killing her lover, and her words to Asher Kendrell are more than a little threatening as she explores Bracket Towers.

But on the flip side of all of that, Red is loving. She cares for her lover, and when he starts doubting she can hear him, she starts having conversations with him through OVC Terminals. Her ability to speak was taken away from her, but she can certainly type her answers to him, letting him know that yes, she can hear him and it’ll be okay.

In the end, Red is her own person and will not let anyone sway her, even when it would be for the best. Her lover inside the Transistor keeps trying to convince her to do things, such as skip town or not to kill herself with the Transistor, but Red will do what Red wants. She has agency over her own actions. She may listen, but if she doesn’t want to do it, she won’t.

Wish: “I wish I could bring you back.” Red spent the entirety of the game trying to figure out what was going on. Why had the Camerata attacked her? Why had they killed her lover? What was the Process? What were they doing? And in the end, she had all her answers. She had won against Royce and now had the Transistor to rebuild Cloudbank as she saw fit. But she didn’t have one thing: her lover back. She tried. She went to where his body was and tried. But as he told her, that wasn’t him anymore. The only thing she could see to do was to kill herself with the Transistor and be absorbed into it. But she couldn’t help but think I wish I could bring you back.

When Kyubey grants this wish, it brings him back, out of the Transistor. However, everything she had done, everything she had tried to do to help him, everything they had experienced together while fighting against the Process, and everything before that, he had forgotten. Since the reason he had ended up in the Transistor was saving her life, he forgot about the woman he died for.

Passive ability: Before everything happened, Red’s music made a huge impact on people. It was to the point she retreated from the public eye to compose in relative peace after there was an altercation at one of her events, and one of the suspects accused her of being an instigator. Her presence is a powerful thing, and her wish makes it stronger, giving her an energizing aura, useful within five feet around her. But anyone within it, given they haven’t spent up all their energy, gains a second wind and the will to try again.

Active ability:Music is tied strongly to her and how she wanted her wish to come true, so her active ability would be Red’s humming can soothe and heal anyone. To keep this from being too overpowered, both parties must remain completely stationary while she’s humming, she doesn’t notice what’s going on while she’s humming, and she can be hurt and knocked out of it while it’s happening.

Weapon: She’s used to handling (poorly) a broadsword, so her weapon is a broadsword similar in size to the Transistor. But a bit sharper and less glowing.

Sample: This Nightmare had interrupted her food. Certainly, it hadn’t been any Junction Jan’s, but it had been decent enough. It had deserved how thoroughly it had been defeated. Red sat down heavily, hand resting on her hilt of her broadsword. What a day already. She had plans, and those had been ruined.

Well, she couldn’t complain. Better her plans than these people. Slowly, she stood back up, feeling her muscles complain as she did so. Maybe if she got started now, she could get back on track. She had things to do, after all.

Red’s hand gently stroked along the hilt of the sword, remembering once upon a time such a sword would talk to her. But now... he was living his life, despite what he had pleaded with her to do. And now she was living hers. She would live that life as long as he would be okay.

Yeah. Everything would be okay.
